Happy Halloween!

Paul and I decided to take Philip out for Halloween for the first time this year. We looked around for costumes and purchased a few to try on at home since it was too complicated to try on at the store. Paul personally loved the Darth Vader one (of course) but unfortunately it was too small, and I really liked the monkey one but it was too big and would be too warm for daycare. In the end, we settled on a Spiderman costume since it fit Philip perfectly and he liked it the best. So, for the last few days we would ask Philip what he was wearing for Halloween and he would proudly say "Ba-Ba-Ban!". We also asked him "What does a ghost say?", and he would reply "Boo!" He even said "boo" as people were opening the door for him when we went trick-or-treating! People thought it was the cutest thing (and so did his mommy for that matter... haha) so he raked in quite the pail of candy for about 15 minutes of work! Happy Halloween everyone, love The Amazing Ba-Ba-Ban! :)

A Belated Thanksgiving Dinner

Since we were so incredibly busy last weekend and Paul had to work on the Monday, we didn't get the chance to have a proper Thanksgiving dinner with the family. So, we made up for it by having Paul's family over for dinner last night. Grandma and grandpa just love playing with Philip, and it was nice that Mike could take some time away from his studies to drop by as well. Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! :)

Asleep on the Job

Philip always wants to feed himself these days so Paul and I do our best to accommodate him. Since he is a slow eater and really likes to enjoy his food, I usually let him eat on his own while I get some chores done. When I came upstairs from doing laundry the other day, I found that Philip had thrown his food everywhere (chicken breast, corn and pita bread were the snacks of choice in this case) and he was sound asleep with his hand still in his bowl! It was too cute so I had to snap a few pics before I carried him to bed. Eating and sleeping, my son's two favourite things... sound familiar to any of you? haha.

My 31st Birthday

I was hoping to have a quiet celebration with Paul and Philip for my birthday since I've been pretty stressed with work the last month. As luck would have it, my parents decided to throw a massive party for me because they said there was something significant about a married woman turning 31. What that is I have yet to figure out, but all I know is that my quiet party of three turned into an huge party of over 50 guests. Yes, that's right, my parents invited my entire extended family (and 50 is not even half of them!) over to their place to celebrate my birthday! The plus sides? It was the long weekend, it wasn't at my house, I got way more presents than I ever expected, and my loving family went through all the effort to cook all the food, which included lots of shrimp and lobster, for everyone! Thanks mom for going through all that trouble to make my 31st a special day for me. It was definitely a big birthday bash, and one I won't soon forget! :)

The "Everybody" Birthday

A lot of us in the neXus crew have birthdays around the same time so we decided to head out to Burlington to meet the Sartorios and celebrate. Although the salty dinners weren't great and the dessert place was overpriced, it didn't stop us from having a good time with great company. We all seemed to be fascinated with looking at pictures on each other's digital cameras that night too. It was actually a great way to catch up on what we had been doing and where we had been since the last time we hooked up. It was different, but it worked! Happy birthday to all those who celebrated birthdays this past September and October... we're all one year older now... yay! :)

Philip the Builder

I had been looking at getting Philip a "toddler toy" for awhile now since he outgrew all his baby toys and we had the extra space. I saw some tools on sale at Toys 'R' Us so I went out and got him a workbench from craigslist as well (I love that site!). Now Philip is a carpenter and loves to play with his sander, drill, screwdrivers, and wrenches, but his favourite has to be the hammer (what else? hehe). We can always hear him hammering away every chance he gets! Do we see a handyman in his future? As Bob the Builder would say: "Can we build it? Yes we can! Can we fix it? Yes we can!"

Daddy's 31st Birthday

We celebrated Paul's birthday with a nice home-cooked meal (huge steaks, of course!) and a yummy chocolate cake. Happy 31st to the best daddy in the whole world! :)

Paul's 32nd Birthday

"Big Paul" turned the big 3-2 so we celebrated by going out to Texas Longhorn for big fajitas and then heading to our house for his favourite, a big strawberry cheesecake! Happy birthday, Paul, with big hugs and big kisses from Philip! :)

Winston's 3rd Birthday

It was cousin Winston's 3rd birthday party so we all went over to my parents' place to celebrate. As usual, there were a bazillion people there and even the Changs came up to visit but it was fun seeing all the cousins play with each other. My parents love the fact that they have five grandsons but Auntie Joanna says that we need a girl in the family... and fast! Unfortunately for her, Paul and I aren't planning on Philip being an older brother for at least another year or so, and even then we can't guarantee a girl! hehe... oh well! Happy 3rd birthday Winston, love "Baby Philip"!! :)

Labour Day @ The Ramlogans'

We headed over to the Ramlogans' house for the last long weekend before school started. It was great to catch up with Behrooz, Alan and Olivia again since it had been many years since we last saw them. Philip was in heaven with all the balls that Wendell took out for him and of course there was enough food to feed an army, as always! Too bad Labour Day marked the end of the summer and a sad goodbye to all my free time for 10 months... boohoo! Thanks for the breakfast, lunch and dinner that day, Yen Vi and Wendell! hehe. :)

First Post of Many - Liam & Philip @ Muddy Duck

Ok, so school started which of course means my posts have been non-existent since the end of August. Well, since I'm avoiding my prepping and marking, I decided to finally update the blog. Here is the first post of a month-long backlog of events... I tried to match the dates as best as I could... enjoy the catch-up! :)

Liam and Philip got together for the last time before their mommies (and Liam's daddy) headed back to school the following week... boohoo! We first went to the Muddy Duck to stuff our tummies with a brunch buffet and then headed over to our place to hang for a bit. Philip and Liam are only one week apart so it's fun watching them grow up together and hopefully become really good friends. It looks like they really like ducks too... quack quack! :)
