The Big On Bloor Festival

Following the Clinton Street Festival, we headed to the Big on Bloor Festival right after to say hi to Aunt Lynn as she was showcasing and selling her Toronto Neighbourhood Mandalas. There were a lot of other vendors selling some neat items as well and we enjoyed seeing the creativity of their designs. Thanks for letting us know about the festival, Lynn, and it was good to see you and your latest mandala collection! To learn more about Lynn's amazing mandalas, please click on her blog and an article about them published in the Globe and Mail last year. I personally think they are fantastic (I have a couple of them framed in my house) and I know you will agree too. Feel free to purchase one (or two, or three, or more!) of these and you will get to learn all about specific Toronto neighbourhoods, mandala style! :)

The Clinton Street Festival

We went to the Bari's street festival again this year but unfortunately it was way too hot. We spent a lot of the time on the porch in the shade and indoors with the air conditioning instead but it didn't stop the kids from having a great time. There was a bouncy castle, bubbles, sprinklers, and face-painting to keep them occupied, but we know kids don't need much to have fun anyway! Thanks for the invite, Eban and Biba, and hopefully next year will be a tad cooler to really enjoy all the street festivities! :)

Henkaa in the News!

As many of you know, my little sister Joanna started a dress company called Henkaa last year. Her target market is bridesmaids' dresses (her bridesmaids were dressed in them too, of course!) but it's such a versatile dress it can be worn anywhere! Congrats Joanna on launching your own successful business and having it really take off... we're so proud of you! Check out the article about how her company started in The Town Crier and check out her website as well. After you see the incredible style and versatility of this dress, you'll just have to purchase one for yourself too! :)

My Second Movie: Cars 2

After Splashworks, we headed over to Colossus to watch Cars 2 in 3D. This is Philip's second movie on the big screen (he watched Toy Story 3 last year) and he loved every minute of it, especially in 3D. He really enjoyed walking around the theatre too since he is becoming a huge Star Wars (thanks to Paul of course) and noticed all the characters on display. Paul is such a movie-goer so he was happy to see another movie in the theatre, even if it was a kids' one with our little guy. I must admit it wasn't a great movie and not up to Pixar's standards in my opinion, but Philip wanted to see it, and nothing beats spending quality time with my family! :)

Hot Fun in the Summertime!

With the steamy weather these days, a trip to Splashworks was definitely in order! We all put on our bathing suits and headed to a very busy Wonderland to cool off in the water. Philip even went on one of the water slides all by himself (yay Philip!), and he enjoyed spending time in the wading pool and splashpad the most. Nothing like the water to cool you down on a hot hot hot summer day! :)

Daniel's 37th Birthday

We celebrated Daniel's birthday at my parents' place by getting him a Dairy Queen cake, our family's favourite go-to cake! Happy 37th birthday, Uncle Daniel! :)

Five-Pin Bowling

Philip went five-pin bowling for the first time with his daycare and I volunteered on the trip. The kids had so much fun and I enjoyed watching him play with all his friends. I prefer ten-pin bowling, but five pin-bowling seemed a lot easier for the kids and they really appreciated having three turns each instead of just two! His teachers Anna and Brianna are a hoot too and Philip absolutely adores them. We're really going to miss Anna when she leaves in August (for a teaching position, yay!), but we wish her all the best and thank her for being such a great teacher to Philip all these years! :)
